About SOBA

SOBA Studio is an interior design practice founded by Ivana Stojanovic, working across residential and commercial projects in Sydney and beyond.
 

We believe good design starts with everyday life. How a space is used, the things we reach for, where we gather and what we choose to keep. Our approach is practical and considered, creating spaces that feel clean, calm and purposeful without sacrificing warmth or personality. From spatial planning to materials and furnishings, we value honest materials, thoughtful choices and solutions that stand the test of time.
 

SOBA takes its name from the South Slavic word for room. It is a simple word for something that holds a lot of meaning. Rooms are where ordinary things happen, routines take shape and people make a space their own. Our philosophy draws on a simpler, more resourceful way of living — valuing what is useful, making the most of what we have and finding beauty in the everyday. This translates into a clean, restrained aesthetic where materials, form and function take precedence over unnecessary decoration. We believe a space doesn't need more to be beautiful; it needs the right things, thoughtfully considered.
 

We take on a considered number of projects each quarter, allowing us to give each one the time, care and attention it deserves. We believe the best outcomes come from understanding the people behind a project, working with what matters to them and taking the time to get the details right.
